Celeste Steyn (b. 1991) is A rookie illustrator, professional doodler and enthusiastic and charismatic creative from the garden route, south Africa. She was a tourism professional bc (before Covid-19) and she finally put the "extraordinary creativity" certificate she got in her 1st year of school in 1999 (dankie Juffrou Louw) to work. Her first children's novel, the many adventures of Robert Redfox and friends, was published in the USA and Canada in 2020.
Mashed potatoes and the art of having fun...
For me, art has always been my currency, my poetry, my escape, my joy and even my way of communicating. Its safe to say that I've doodled, painted and creatively maneuvered my way through life since I can remember. With my pencils, brushes, talent and imagination I could do anything from creating worlds to paying the rent!
Two rules I set out for myself... I have to love what I do (as much as I love mashed potatoes) and if I'm not having fun, I'm doing it wrong!

I have no formal training nor qualifications when it comes to any artform - but what I do have is talent, an electric personality and wicked sense of humor. I enjoy painting with oil paints on canvas, graffiti with spray paint and digital media for the purpose of illustration. If there is any medium or subject that I haven't encountered yet, I'm always willing to try my best!
When I'm not covered in paint or crouching over my iPad, I have a full-time role as a dog-mom to three rescues. The garden route is my home and I can be found at the beach or around a braai, wherever there is good coffee and lekker people. I love playing musical instruments and having the occasional jam session.
